The On the Move exhibition was held at the VDA headquarters in Berlin between 17 March and 26 June 2015 (see a video here).
On the Move explored movement as captured by the most acclaimed photographers of the past century. It featured both legendary photographers such as Lee Miller, Jacques Henri Lartigue, Philippe Halsman, and Alvin Langdon Coburn, and the brightest stars of contemporary photography such as Oliver Mark, Gundula Friese, Chien-Chi Chang, and Petr Lovigin.
The exhibition included more than 100 photographs from 13 photographers. The work spanned more than a century, from the earliest photographs by Alvin Langdon Coburn (1882-1966) to an original photo series created for the exhibition by Russian photographer Petr Lovigin (b. 1981).
“It was extraordinary to have so many exceptional photographers on display at one time,” says Anna-Patricia Kahn, the curator of On the Move. “This show was a tremendous success and we were delighted to with the critical and public response.”
On the Move was hosted by the Association of the German Automotive Industry (Verband der Automobilindustrie) at Behrenstrasse 35, 10117, Berlin. A limited-edition, hand-bound catalogue of the exhibition’s photography has been published by the CLAIR Gallery on behalf of the Association of the German Automotive Industry.
