BIoGRAPHY

Edward Kaprov is an Israeli artist and documentary photographer renowned for his profound exploration of human nature and social dynamics. Born in 1975 in the Soviet Union, he immigrated to Israel in 1992, where he embarked on a career in photography, reflecting and connecting the shattered utopias of both his motherland and his homeland.
Kaprov’s work delves into the intersection of ideals and reality, capturing the complexities of contemporary life. His projects encompass a wide range of themes.
His work has been featured on various international platforms, including an exhibition at the Swiss Camera Museum in Vevey, Switzerland, titled La guerre sur verre, showcasing his Ukrainian war photographs.
Kaprov’s work has been widely recognized: it was presented at the WARM Foundation festival in Sarajevo 2023 and he received the Prix Bayeux Calvados-Normandie award for his project Le visage de la dernière guerre which was exhibited at the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire Baron Gérard in Bayeux. In 2025 his film Donbas: Between Life and Death, a Lila production for Arte, was awarded the top prize in the video category of the Prix Bayeux for war correspondents.
Published in prominent publications including the New York Times, Kaprov is known for the sincerity and depth of his work and for his unique approach to conflict photography.

Edward Kaprov wins Bayeux Prize

'Donbas: Between Life and Death' takes 1st place in the Video Image category

 

Our congratulations to Edward Kaprov whose documentary film ‘Donbas: Between Life and Death’, a Lila production for Arte, has just been awarded the top prize in the video category of the prestigious Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award for war correspondents. The poignant 24 minute reportage is a window into the daily lives of Ukrainians caught in a seemingly endless struggle for survival. Watch the film here on Arte.
