Kate Winslet has been cast to play Lee Miller in an upcoming movie about the photographer’s life.
Miller (1907, USA—1977, UK) was one of the leading photographers of the 20th century. She is renowned for the creative range of her images, from landmark fashion photography to chilling images of concentration camps during World War II to iconic portraits of Pablo Picasso.
The movie will be based on a biography of Miller, The Lives of Lee Miller, written by her son Antony Penrose. No date has yet been set for the start of filming.
“Kate Winslet is an superb choice to capture the genius of this remarkable woman,” says CLAIR gallery director Anna-Patricia Kahn. “This film will introduce Lee Miller’s brilliance to new generations and render her photographs all the more precious.”
